Filming a wedding with the GH4

On June 28th 2014, we celebrated as Lauren & Kevin tied the knot at Lucy’s Garden in Ridgefield, Washington. This wedding was shot on a Canon DSLR, and for the first time a brand new Panasonic GH4. For capturing weddings, the GH4 is fantastic! Capable of filming at 96 frames-per-second (with the norm being 24fps), we were able to capture rushed and hectic moments as super-slow, cinematic shots. This heightened the drama wonderfully.

As we arrived at the Lucy’s Garden and began to set up our equipment for the ceremony, it began to rain. Lauren & Kevin had planned on having a beautiful, outdoor ceremony, and now the weather was threatening to force the event indoors. But, almost as if the weddings gods were watching, the skies opened up right as the processional began! After Lauren & Kevin were pronounced husband and wife, it began to pour – all we can say is amazing timing!

The stormy skies provided a beautiful and dramatic backdrop for Lauren & Kevin’s wedding film. Even though it may rain on your wedding day, don’t fret, it makes for great, cinematic footage!
